Frank Turner

Rock Lifestyle are all set to interview the very talented Frank Turner in the coming days, but we didn’t think it would be fair to keep the Brit singer/songwriter all to ourselves!

We’re offering you the chance to put your questions to the man himself… Write them down in the comments below and we’ll put the best ones to him very shortly.

  4. Do you think if your old band Million Dead was based in the US, the band would have had bigger success?

  5. Hey, why are doing solo gigs now? I liked you better with Jermaine. I like the song about rocking the party!

  6. you spend (very) long periods of time on the road, how do you think you would cope without email, text, twitter etc. to contact home.

Everyone has their own favourite Frank Turner lyric (mine is “well life is about love, lost minutes and lost evenings,
About fire in our bellies and about furtive little feelings”), but what do you consider the best line you’ve ever written?

  8. ‘Reasons not be an Idiot’ is one of my fave songs EVER and is my ultimate kick up the bum song – never fails to cheer me up if i’m feeling crappy or make me even chirpier if i’m not … so i guess if i’m being arty-farty, i should describe it as very ‘inspirational’…lol. So I would like to know what music/songs/artists inspire you?? xx ps. you really are f*cking awesome!! x

  9. Have you ever shaved off that Goatee.. if not, what are you hiding under there:)

  10. How did you get the chance to support Green Day at Wembley, and what do you think of a “punk” band playing stadiums

  11. Marmite: Love or Hate?

  12. Pat - Leicester 19. May, 2010 at 11:36 am

    Favorite film this year?

  13. What is your favourite style of facial hair?

  14. Does it make you angry that all these shitty screamo bands are ripping off the Black Flag logo for their tshirts?

  15. Were you a Dimebag Darrel fan at all?

  16. I’ll second Lee’s comment!

  17. You have made some songs about being on the road, making music and life as an artist in general. Which song about being a musician, sort of meta-music, is the best out there? (Personally, I really like Reuben’s view on the music industry as described in their song Return of the Jedi.)

  18. Would you say that you’re done with performing heavy music now or is there still a bit of a fire which might see you return to that style as a side project/personal indulgence? Not necessarily talking Million Dead reunions but putting something together with friends for the sake of making a shouty noise to leave ears ringing.

  19. Can you pick my song to be the B-Side of “Try This At Home”? It might not be the best, but I genuinely did “try this at home” after hearing Love, Ire and Song for the first time. (This also gives you a wonderful, seamless link to then go on and discuss the whole Split 7″ too… almost genius!)

  20. Do you like Al Baker’s song ‘If I was Frank Turner’ ?

  21. You played a couple of acoustic shows with jamie Lenman from Reuben a few years ago. Any chance you could persuade him to do some more or make an album?

  22. At the end of the day, is it about the thrill of live shows or the thought of everyone listening to your album singing along at home/driving etc.

Does it annoy you when everyone refers to you as a political artist all the time when your much more than that?

  24. Which came first.. chicken or the egg?

  25. When you start out writing a song, or an album, what do you hope an audience will take away from it; what’s the intended impact of your music?

  26. did a lot of your fans carry over from million dead you think?

  27. Civil liberties is a topic you have spoken a lot about. The the new coalition government agreement promises to “implement a full programme of measures to reverse the substantial erosion of civil liberties… and roll back state intrusion.” (http://bit.ly/9qkKNI)including
    - The scrapping of ID card scheme and National Identity register
    - The restoration of rights to non-violent protest.
    - Safeguards against the misuse of anti-terrorism legislation.
    - Further regulation of CCTV.

How confident are you that these promises will come to fruition and what are your thoughts on the proposals. Do they go far enough?

  28. Do you know you have fans in Brazil who LOVE your music and can sing Love, Ire and Song by heart?

  29. Would you come to Brazil to perform at my wedding?

  30. Devon - Sheffield 19. May, 2010 at 5:31 pm

What are your thoughts on torrents and anyone around the world being able to download your discography in under an hour. Do you feel it brings more ppl to your live shows, so it works out in the end.

  31. What made you decide to make your solo music so different to the sound you had with Million Dead?

  32. Does branding have a lot to do with being a successful musician or is it all about the music..

  33. The interview is up! Thanks for all your questions, we only had time to ask a few:

  35. I am busy telling my friends your history essay from Oxford is used as an example of how to write a history dissertation for all other students. Though this will continue to be told, is this just a vicious/viscus rumour…?
